A Touch-Horn Yoke for the Earlier Model S and X
An open-top replacement yoke with source-described built-in heating for the earlier 2021–2023 Model S and Model X touch-horn structure, including Plaid. The earlier structure has a small horn icon on the right spoke. The driver airbag and airbag cover are separate from this package. A round-to-yoke conversion needs the correct airbag and configuration procedure as well as the listed trim.

- Touch-Horn Structure
- Heating Hardware
- Airbag Excluded
Key Features
-
Open-Top Profile
The yoke has no continuous upper rim; the final instrument sightline depends on the driver and steering-column position.
-
Touch-Horn Selection
The listed 2021–2023 Model S/X application requires the small horn icon on the right spoke; camera-icon mechanical-horn versions are excluded.
-
Heating Hardware
The source includes heating in the yoke and a heating harness. Retaining heat requires the matching factory-heated vehicle and connection.
-
Non-Heated Use
The source describes operation without heat on a matching non-heated vehicle, with only the heating harness left disconnected.
-
Source-Wheel Trim
A round-wheel source receives the corresponding middle trim; a yoke-wheel source reuses its original middle trim.
-
Airbag Separate
The driver airbag and its cover are excluded. A trim cover does not make round-wheel and yoke airbags interchangeable.
Highlights

Installed Yoke Example
The complete cabin photograph shows the open upper profile. The vehicle, airbag and visible center components illustrate an installed result; they are not additional supplied parts or proof of an airbag match for another vehicle.
Structure Before Year
The source distinguishes a small horn icon from the later camera-icon mechanical-horn layout. The year or icon alone does not establish every connection.
Trim and Airbag Are Different Parts
The source supplies middle trim for an original round wheel and describes original trim reuse for a yoke. Tesla requires the correct wheel-type airbag for a configuration conversion; the trim cannot make the old round-wheel airbag suitable for a yoke.
Compatibility
| Model | Years / Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Model S | 2021–2023 | Listed application including Plaid; earlier small-horn-icon touch-horn structure, exact airbag type and connectors must match. |
| Model X | 2021–2023 | Listed application including Plaid; earlier small-horn-icon touch-horn structure, exact airbag type and connectors must match. |
Excludes camera-icon mechanical-horn versions. The source covers heated and non-heated applications, but the yoke does not add factory heating support to a vehicle without it. A round-to-yoke conversion is not an automatic transfer of the old airbag.

What's in the Box
- Yoke steering-wheel body with built-in heating
- Heating harness for matching factory-heated vehicles
- Corresponding middle trim for a round-wheel source; a yoke source reuses its original middle trim
Installation
- For a configuration conversion, establish a new compatible driver airbag by part number and all required parts. The package excludes the airbag and cover; middle trim is not an airbag adapter.
- Follow the applicable Tesla service procedure for power isolation, airbag handling, wheel removal and required new fastener. Do not modify the airbag, cover, mounting interface or connectors.
- Fit the matching source-wheel trim and connect all required controls. Connect heating only for the matching factory-heated application; leave only that harness disconnected for the described non-heated application.
- Complete the wheel-type configuration and software steps for the vehicle.
Good to Know
Caution
- The small horn icon identifies the earlier structure but not the airbag or connectors. Excludes camera-icon mechanical-horn versions.
- The driver airbag and airbag cover are not included. Tesla states that round-wheel and yoke airbags are not interchangeable, and a configuration conversion requires a new compatible driver airbag identified by part number. The included middle trim does not resolve airbag compatibility. Do not cut, adapt or modify an airbag or its cover.
- Installation follows the vehicle service procedure for power isolation, airbag handling, fastener replacement, tightening and software/configuration steps. The open profile does not establish crash performance.
Care
- Clean the grip and trim with methods suitable for the actual surface. Keep liquids away from controls and connectors.
- Preserve access to the horn and controls and reassess the driving position for the open-top hand path.
FAQ
Which versions are excluded?
Camera-icon mechanical-horn versions are excluded. The listed earlier touch-horn structure has a small horn icon on the right spoke.
Are the airbag and its cover included?
No. The package is the yoke body, heating harness and applicable middle trim. Visible airbag and vehicle components in the installed photograph are not supplied extras.
Can I reuse a round-wheel airbag for a round-to-yoke conversion?
No. Tesla states that round-wheel and yoke airbags are not interchangeable and requires a new compatible airbag for a wheel-type conversion; middle trim does not substitute for it.
Does it add heat to a non-heated vehicle?
No. The source includes heating hardware, but heat remains inactive without matching factory support. For the described non-heated application, only the heating harness stays disconnected; other required connections must be correct.
Is this a simple trim swap?
No. It replaces the steering interface and involves the driver airbag, wheel fastener, wiring and configuration work under the vehicle service procedure.
