Struts, Latch and Electrical Components
The illustrated Model S kit combines two electric supports with a latch assembly, controller, wiring and brackets.
Select the Model S Kit
TCU008 is the 2017–2020 option and TCU009 is the 2022-on option. A year label alone does not establish compatibility with altered hood parts, every low-voltage revision or another Tesla model.
Available Controls
Vehicle-app, screen, key-fob and smart-device operation depend on the matching controller, vehicle equipment and setup. An opening command does not automatically provide powered closing.
Plan the Release Route
The mechanical cable is part of this aftermarket kit.
Compatibility

This listing offers Model S kits in the two selected year ranges. It does not establish Model X, Model 3 or Model Y fitment, and there is no listed 2021 option. Existing powered-frunk modifications need separate assessment.

- Complete the specified controller setup while parked.
Good to Know
Caution
- Operate the frunk while parked and watch the full hood movement. Keep people and objects out of its path; obstacle sensing must never be tested with a body part or treated as an injury-prevention guarantee.
- Do not slam the hood, force a motorized closure or apply pressure at a point that can damage the hood.
- The kit cable is not interchangeable with Tesla’s factory emergency or no-power procedure.
Care
- Keep the control unit away from pressure washing or immersion.
FAQ
Which Model S years are offered?
There are two options: 2017–2020 (TCU008) and 2022-on (TCU009). A 2021 option is not listed.
Will every app, watch or key command open and close it?
Supported commands depend on the exact controller, vehicle equipment and setup. Original opening controls do not automatically close the hood.
Can I rely on the kit cable during a power failure?
The kit cable is separate from Tesla’s original release procedure.
