Installation
- Place the charger in the original phone tray and connect it to the vehicle USB port.
- Fit the pad according to its manual and route its cables away from hinges, moving covers and storage edges. Do not force it into a refreshed-console layout or improvise a connector conversion.
- Connect the pad to the suitable USB supply as specified in its manual. Do not set up simultaneous multiple devices through a hub or rely on the splitters to preserve Dashcam or media recognition.
- Remove metal objects and NFC cards, then position the phone with its charging coil aligned.
Good to Know
Caution
- This is the short version without Type-C; the cable-equipped gallery version is not supplied.
- Tesla advises against using USB hubs to connect multiple devices because charging or media/Dashcam recognition can fail. The included splitters do not guarantee simultaneous charging and data operation.
- Keep coins, metal objects and NFC cards away from the charging surface. Stop using the pad if it overheats, behaves abnormally or cannot hold the phone securely.
- Charging stops while the vehicle is asleep.
Care
- Disconnect before wiping the housing with a lightly damp soft cloth. Keep liquid out of connectors and allow the pad to dry fully.
- Keep the surface free of grit and metal objects.
FAQ
Which console does this charging pad fit?
The original Model 3 console, 2017–2020. It does not fit the refreshed console or Highland.
Is a Type-C charging cable included?
No. The current option is the Gen 2 short version without Type-C.
Will every wireless charging phone fit?
No. It charges Qi phones that fit the pad; horizontal placement and smaller phones need a different alignment.
Can the USB splitters preserve Dashcam and charging together?
The set includes two splitters, but Tesla advises against connecting multiple devices through a USB hub because charging or data recognition can fail. Their inclusion does not establish that simultaneous charger and Dashcam or media operation is supported.
